Human Embryo Cryopreservation

At FERTILITE, we are leaders in utilizing embryo vitrification techniques, providing our patients with the best option to preserve their chances of conceiving in the future. Vitrification is an ultra-rapid freezing technique that prevents ice crystal formation, thus protecting embryo quality and ensuring long-term viability.

Embryo Cryopreservation Process

Egg and Embryo Retrieval and Culturing

Eggs are collected through ultrasound-guided ovarian puncture and fertilized in the laboratory via in vitro fertilization (IVF). The embryos are then cultured for several days, and only those that reach the blastocyst stage (5-6 days of development) and demonstrate excellent quality are selected for vitrification.

Preparation with Cryoprotective Solutions

We use advanced cryoprotective solutions, such as ethylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide, to protect embryos during freezing. Embryos are gradually exposed to these solutions to prevent osmotic damage and ensure their integrity.

Rapid Vitrification and Storage

Embryos are immersed in a droplet of cryoprotective solution and placed in a specially designed straw for safe storage. The straw is then rapidly submerged in liquid nitrogen at -196°C, ensuring ultra-fast freezing that preserves embryo viability.

Devitrification and Embryo Transfer

When ready for use, the embryos undergo a careful devitrification process. Cryoprotectants are removed, and the embryos are prepared for transfer into the patient’s uterus. At FERTILITE, we also perform assisted hatching to facilitate implantation and improve success rates.

Quality and Safety in Every Step

At FERTILITE, we ensure maximum safety and precision throughout the cryopreservation process. Our advanced embryo identification system guarantees traceability and eliminates errors. Our laboratory adheres to strict protocols to maintain the highest quality for each vitrified embryo.

Indications for Embryo and Oocyte Vitrification

Women wishing to preserve fertility for personal or medical reasons, such as cancer treatments.

  • Couples with surplus high-quality embryos following an IVF cycle.
  • Patients undergoing gynecological surgeries that could affect ovarian reserve.
  • Cases requiring preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to ensure the selection of healthy embryos.
At FERTILITE, we offer a personalized approach and cutting-edge technology for the cryopreservation of your embryos or eggs, ensuring that you receive the best service and care at every stage of the process.
