Egg Donation Program

At FERTILITE, our Egg Donation Program is designed to help women who are unable to use their own eggs to conceive. As women age, the quality of their eggs declines, making many women over 40, or those facing premature menopause, ideal candidates for our egg donation program. Located at Hospital Ángeles Tijuana, our program offers a safe and effective solution for women and couples seeking in vitro fertilization (IVF) with donor eggs.

Highly Qualified Donors

At FERTILITE, we carefully select only the healthiest and most qualified egg donors from all over Baja California and the southern United States for our program. We maintain an extensive database of altruistic donors—compassionate women who want to help families like yours achieve their dreams of parenthood. Each donor undergoes rigorous medical screening to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

Affordable Options

One of the key advantages of our program is that we manage our own egg donor database, making treatments more affordable. A single cycle of IVF with egg donation at FERTILITE starts at $9,000 USD, a much more cost-effective option compared to using external donor agencies. This allows us to reduce costs significantly, making the process more accessible for our patients.

Why Choose Our Egg Donation Program?

Egg donation may be necessary for various reasons. Some women may lose their egg function due to medical treatments like chemotherapy or radiation, while others may carry genetic conditions they do not wish to pass on to their children. While Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) can screen for many conditions, it is not possible to detect every genetic disease, making egg donation the best option for some patients.

Egg Donation Cycle Process

Ovarian Stimulation of the Donor:

The donor undergoes ovarian stimulation with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to produce multiple follicles. During the cycle, the donor visits our clinic regularly to monitor progress and ensure the production of healthy eggs.

Egg Retrieval:

Once the follicles reach maturity, an hCG injection is administered to trigger ovulation. The eggs are then retrieved via a transvaginal ultrasound-guided aspiration under mild sedation. This procedure is safe, quick, and typically takes 15 to 30 minutes.

Fertilization of the Eggs:

The retrieved eggs are handed over to the embryologist, who separates them from the follicular fluid and prepares them for fertilization. The sperm, either from the recipient’s partner or an anonymous donor, is used to fertilize the eggs. In some cases, ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) is necessary to improve fertilization rates. The fertilization process is checked 16-18 hours later.

Embryo Transfer:

Three to five days after fertilization, the resulting embryos are transferred to the recipient’s uterus. Throughout the donor’s treatment, the recipient has been undergoing hormone therapy to synchronize her endometrial development with the age of the embryos, maximizing the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Advantages of FERTILITE’s Egg Donation Program

One of the greatest benefits of our program is that pregnancy success rates are directly related to the donor’s age. For instance, if eggs are sourced from a 22-year-old donor and transferred to a 42-year-old recipient, the success rates will mirror those of a 22-year-old. This ensures that our patients have the best chances of success, regardless of their age.
